The Bench Experiment

Sun-dried adobe bricks were made as part of an experiment to construct a base for a bench in Guwahati, using locally available mud, fibres and additives. Mixes were designed to survive the rainfall and temperature variations and use animal by-products like elephant dung and fish scales. The sun-dried bricks were used to make a base for a bench that has survived two seasons of rain in one of the regions in India that receives a large amount of rainfall throughout the year.
